(no subject) [Jan. 21st, 2008|01:18 pm]
Last weekend I rearranged my room..

and this weekend I hung out with Bentley while Tanisha was in S.D:

..well I did more than that. Here's what my weekend consisted of:
Friday- After school I went to IKEA. I bought chairs for our dining room table, then took a couple hours putting them together while watching "Because I Said So" (great movie)
Saturday- Woke up nice and early and took a trip to Sunnyvale Farmers Market. A nice gentleman asked me if I'd like to sample a date. I smiled the rest of the morning thinking of all the witty responses I should have replied with. I decided to take a drive to San Leandro, went to Nordstrom Rack and the Lakeshore Outlet. Got some good stuff. Went into school and set up my new cubbies. I partook in some of my newest obsession: Frozo's.
Sunday- I woke up early again and decided to hit up mass at St. Clares. After a quick stop at Costco to get Boca Burgers and Trail Mix, I headed home to watch the AFC Championship. The Patriots (boo) beat the Chargers. After the game I went to Staples and bought a new camera (thanks to slickdeals.net for the tip on a good sale). Tanisha returned home and we took yet another trip to Frozo's.

I'm baaaaaaack [Jan. 20th, 2008|05:13 pm]
So, I stopped writing in this when I moved up to Sunnyvale and the school year started because my life had become so consumed in my work. But now that I'm taking more time to enjoy my free moments and make hilarious memories, I want this back. So whether it's picture, reminders for myself, etc. there will be entries made. I hate to forget anything, so having it here is my solution.

I might even backlog a few entries/events.

15/19 does not equal 30% (as far as I know) [Aug. 20th, 2007|11:23 pm]

Well, today I started work.. It was just New Teacher Orientation, but it's crazy to be starting like a career.. It's not like freaking Fright Fest or The Cliffs.. This is like insurance, long term, retirement crap.

After that, Tanisha and I went on an adventure to find the Social Security Office. No such luck, but we did find the teacher supply store, and a Popeyes, and a Dollar and Twenty Five Cents Store, and many more things we didn't need.

I missed my Kindergarten Teacher Pow Wow cause I couldn't find the place. (darn Yahoo! Maps)

I decided to scrap the idea and just go take a look at my room and start getting things settled in there, now that it's all empty and ready for Miss Wagenaar to move in. I was excited to find a nice big flat TV hidden in a cupboard and lots of storage space. I then got the list of kids that'll be in my class. It'll be a challenging year to say the least. I have 19 students so far, 15 of them are English Language Learners. Of those students languages spoken include: Telugu, Spanish, Tamil, Mandarin, Kannada, Cantonese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, and Japanese. I guess that means that the French I took isn't really going to help me.

Welp, that's about it for now.. tomorrow I have another day of New Teacher Orientation and start intense work on preparing my room, so I should get to bed.

I've been on the road since my last post.. I clocked at least 1,376 miles and visited: San Luis Obispo, Canyon Country, West Hollywood, Downtown LA, Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, Del Mar, Hollywood, Sunnyvale, San Francisco, and Berkeley.

I had an absolutely amazing time. All the driving time was just what I needed to center myself and get ready to start my newest chapter (which starts tomorrow with New Teacher Orientation). I started out with a nice stop in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night. Hung out with Adrian and Naoko and hit up Pint Night at Woodstocks, running into tons of friends who it was a pleasure to see. Had a text message snafoo, but actually it turned out not terribly. Then headed downtown with Ms. Minor and we had wayyyy too much Sex on the Beach. We enjoyed some Breakfast Buzz Burritos before I left town, then it was on to LA. Had a relaxing day with the parents, then came the journey to San Diego. The ride took about 6 hours, with a stop in W. Hollywood to see Popsicle and Downtown LA to do some shopping in the Fashion District. We had dinner, Friday night, with Ali's family then went to Yard House and met up with Kyle Carson for a drink. Saturday included grabbing lunch from Submarina with Johnny and hanging out for a little, catching up and saying goodbyes. It was terribly hard, cause I have strong feelings for him, but 467.3 miles makes things far too complicated at this point in our lives. Back to the vacation... so that night we had Rubios and saw Stardust. It was absolutely breathtaking. Sooooooo good! Then a Chocolate Chip Calzone at Claim Jumper for dessert. Sunday's weather was perfect for a day at the Outlets then the Del Mar Races and dinner with Millie at Cheeburger Cheeburger.

After coming home I got to spend a couple days in L.A. and having the sisters visit made it SPEC-TAC-U-LAR! When Lizzy came into town, we had a lovely lunch at Paradise Cove (minus the assholes who sat next to us). We saw Rush Hour 3, it was alright. When Tina came into town, we had a lovely lunch at Lala's on Melrose. While we were there I pretty much became BFF with some guy from E.R. I went to see Stardust with the family again. Thursday was spent doing last minute errands and packing before heading with Steven to another stop in San Luis Obispo. It was an absolute blast seeing Lindsey, Weiner, Yar, and Quinn and doing what we do best: drinking. A 60 oz margarita at Vallartas and then crawling around getting Birthday Shots for Weenie.

Steven and my roadtrip continued with a car ride up to Sunnyvale. We hung out here and got ready before hopping on Caltrain to get to San Fran, where we met up with the Diaz family. Headed to see Avenue Q, which was spectacular, and then back to Berkeley for the night. We met up with Debbs and tried to find something, anything that was open for food. Ended up eating the best Pad Thai I've ever had and then grabbed a beer at Jupiter (pronounced you-pi-der). Saturday started with a Big Red Double Decker Bus Tour of the city, then a boat ride out to Alcatraz Island. The audio tour was creepy, but really interesting. Dinner at Nick's Lighthouse was amazing. Thank you Steven! The wine was good too ;) We attempted to scalp our extra tickets for the Bus Tour all around Pier 39, without success. We did grab some donuts and some drinks and created some havoc in the meantime. Went to Boudin, met a cute bartender who hooked it up (but he's most likely G&T). Stopped at 7-Eleven for the essentials (and by essentials I mean wine, but not a wine opener.. oy). Bathroom break at Subway, bought a sweet Mac Dre poster, and walked from Pier 39 to Pier 1. On the way, we stopped at the Fog City Diner and I saw Forest Whitaker. Once we got back to the hotel, the real fun began. Cassie and I enjoyed some Bud Light Tall Boys while we attempted, for nearly an hour, to open the bottle of Robert Mondavi.

Now the fun is over, and I'm glad to be home and ready to start work tomorrow. New Teacher Orientation. I hope they like me.

There's a Fine Fine Line from Avenue Q
There's a fine, fine line between a lover and a friend;
There's a fine, fine line between reality and pretend;
And you never know 'til you reach the top if it was worth the uphill climb.

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

There's a fine, fine line between a fairy tale and a lie;
And there's a fine, fine line between "You're wonderful" and "Goodbye."
I guess if someone doesn't love you back it isn't such a crime,
But there's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of your time.

And I don't have the time to waste on you anymore.
I don't think that you even know what you're looking for.
For my own sanity, I've got to close the door
And walk away...

There's a fine, fine line between together and not
And there's a fine, fine line between what you wanted and what you got.
You gotta go after the things you want while you're still in your prime...

There's a fine, fine line between love
And a waste of time.

California, California, here we cooooooommmeeee.... [Aug. 7th, 2007|09:35 pm]

Last night was spectacular. Went with Nicole, her friend Sarah, and their family to the Giants Game. It was Irish Night and we had tickets in the Irish Heritage Section. Basically what that translates to is drunken antics and Irish Beanies. The only time we paid attention was when Bonds was up to bat, but he decided to wait until today to break the record. Bastard! We dont' recall the 7th inning stretch, and I wasn't sure of the result of the game until I got an update from a friend via text. LOL. I'm guessing it's because we started with Patron Margaritas at 4:30. Continued at the 21st Amendment where we drank Vodka Lemonades and Blueberry Collins like they were water. Today we spent the day watching Big Love and then hung out with Paco (who lives in Sunnyvale). Good times!

Tomorrow begins the Tour of California.. It's SLO then LA then SD then LA for the sisters arrival then SF then back to Sunnvale

In other news, I signed my contract today.. So it's official! I also got a pleasant surprise from Cynthia in HR. :) I can't wait to get started.. I also go the key to my class today!

A Good Song for the Impending Weeks.. [Jul. 18th, 2007|05:19 pm]
Entry #151

I hope that days come easy and moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

More then anything, more then anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it,
To your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,

You never need to carry more then you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more then you take.
